The refrigerator coils is the cooling element for the unit.
WHY YOU SHOULD DO IT
If allowed to remain dusty, it forces the refrigerator to work harder to keep cool. If this goes on for too long, it can severely shorten the life of a particular unit and cause a little jump in energy bills.

Checking these by hitting the Test and Reset buttons regularly will ensure that the GFIs are working properly and won't allow added current into the circuit.

You can do this yourself by putting ice and/or lemon rinds in the disposal. If it's really bad, hire a plumber.
